ETSG 2021 GHENT
ETSG conferences are open to any researcher with an interest in international trade issues. Everyone can submit a paper for presentation.
CONFERENCE INFORMATION AND NEWS
ETSG conferences have always been about informal, as well as formal, interactions amongst participants. It was unfortunate that we had to cancel the conference in 2020 due to the pandemic. We hope to be able to organise it in 2021, ideally in person or in hybrid form. If not, we will consider a fully online version, as we do not want to let two years go by without an ETSG conference.
---------------------------------------------
This is the twenty-second conference in what is now the largest (and friendliest) annual conference on international trade in the world.
ETSG 2021 is being hosted by Ghent University, Department of Economics in Ghent (Belgium). Detailed local information (e.g. location, transportation, hotels, visa requirements) will be posted in due course.
Prize for young economists awarded by RoWE
We are very pleased to announce that the Review of World Economics (ROWE) will award the seventh annual prize for young economists at the ETSG Conference 2021 in Ghent. The selected paper will receive €1,000 and the possibility to be published in ROWE. Only papers presented at the ETSG 2021 Conference (co-)authored by young economists (i.e. within 2 years of PhD completion) will be eligible. Authors of accepted papers will be informed of the procedure to submit their paper for consideration. Previous winners are listed in the Award Winners page.
Prize awarded by the WTO
We are very pleased to announce that the WTO will award the thirteenth annual WTO Essay Award for Young Economists at the ETSG 2021 in Ghent. The deadline for submission and further details will be announced in due course. Prevoius winners are listed in the Award Winners page.
Presentation facilities
All of the rooms being used for sessions are equipped with overhead projectors and data projectors connected to personal computers. Powerpoint and Acrobat software will be installed on all machines. If you wish to use a data projector, please bring your presentation on a USB memory stick. Files can be loaded onto the computers during the breaks. Due to time pressure within sessions, it will not be possible to connect your own laptop to the projectors.
Conference schedule
Please note that this year’s conference will begin just after lunchtime on Thursday 9 September and will end late in the afternoon of Saturday 11 September. Please plan on attending the entire conference. Depending on the situation regarding the pandemic, the conference may take place in hybrid format (i.e. some presentations in person and some online) or fully online.
Registration
Please remember that all participants, regardless of whether they present papers, will be required to pay a fee for attending the conference. This has been set at €80. Notice that this is only a fraction of the per capita cost, but will help in keeping ETSG conferences viable.
Local Organizers:
Glenn Rayp, Bruno Merlevede, Ilse Ruyssen, and Samuel Standaert.
